Anita Bryant |
Donnie
performed two seasons with Anita Bryant in Branson. The first year under the
leadership of Wayne Campbell and the second year under the leadership of
Jonathan Schell. Wayne had been with Anita for many years, but stepped down
as music director due to health issues the second year.During the first season, on November 11th, we performed a Veteran's Day show with Bob Hope. The State Governor came to the show and made a presentation declaring a new state holiday, Bob Hope Day, in honor and recognition of his work with the USO and what he has meant to serviceman all these years. "It was indeed an honor to be in the presence of such a great man." says Donnie. |
During
the second season at Anita's, we became acquainted with Kenneth and Gloria
Copeland. Kenneth came to visit the show and Donnie met him in the lobby of
the theater. As they began to talk, Kenneth shared with Donnie about a
miracle he experience concerning Anita Bryant.Kenneth was a pilot for Oral Roberts at the time and he was experiencing back pain from a kidney stone. He said the pain was so excruciating that he couldn't even get out of his bed. Gloria was playing music on the record player and one of the songs that she played was Anita Bryant singing "It Took a Miracle". Kenneth shared as long as that song was playing, the pain went away. He said, "I made Gloria play it over and over again!" |
